Are you carrying the right stuff in bear country?
A recent survey of hikers in Glacier National Park revealed that 35 of the 50 people interviewed who thought they were carrying bear spray actually had the wrong product.

Apparently many people are carrying personal or law enforcement types of pepper spray instead of the type designed for bear use.

Some roads at Yellowstone to open soon
Park Roads From West Yellowstone And Mammoth Hot Springs To Old Faithful, Canyon and Norris Open Friday Morning, the 18th. Despite dealing with equipment breakdowns due to the heaviest snowfall in a decade, some Yellowstone National Park roads are set to re-open to car and RV traffic as scheduled at 8:00 a.m., Friday, April 18.

Fire burning in Great Smoky Mountain National Park
A fire in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park that was started by a motorcycle crash has spread to 10 acres. The NPS has said that the fire is expected to expand into Thursday as crews try to contain it.

The motorcycle rider walked away from the crash.

The 3200 has a 3.5 inch touch screen, pre loaded maps, voice guidance and takes SD cards. The 3200 features SiRFstarIII technology for increased reception. It includes maps for the U.S. and 1.3 million points of interest.
Altek introduces 8MP digital camera with GPS
This new camera from Altek will geotag your photos on the fly with it's built in gps unit. The camera also has a 3 inch touchscreen, electronic map browsing, search functions for points of interest and satellite navigation.

Users will be able to use the photos taken with the camera with online services such as Flickr and Google Earth.

The camera should be available later in 2008, no price as of yet.
